Gavin MacLeod, 89 Years Old
Back in the 70s and 80s, the critics didn’t like the show The Love Boat, but the audiences just couldn’t get enough of it. Heading this “boat” was Captain Merrill Stubing played by actor Gavin MacLeod, who originally hated the show’s script, especially since he had just spent 7 years on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Nevertheless, Gavin did the feel-good show and it became his biggest hit. After the show ended, the actor did not get much serious work, which never bothered him. In the 80s, he turned to religion after what he calls his “spiritual rebirth” and since then, he has written a few books and starred in a Christian film, The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry.
