One of the reasons why producers wanted to make a show about the Gold & Silver Pawnshop was because of the unique and eclectic items they saw being sold in the shop. Many items had interesting stories attached to them, while other rare ones are even part of history. Imagine Rick’s reaction when a long-haired customer entered the shop bringing one of legendary musician Jimi Hendrix’s electric guitars. Of course Rick turned into such a fanboy when he heard Hendrix’s name, but he called on an expert to appraise the item before he offered a deal for it. Jesse Amoroso of Cowtown Guitars studied the ’63 Olympic White Fender Stratocaste and it was declared authentic, including the serial number it carried. It can be auctioned off at a whopping $1 million, so Rick offered $450,000, but the seller was asking for $750,000. Rick wasn’t able to close that deal, and the seller walked out of the store with the precious item.
