Katie Couric was riding a career high as a TV presenter and journalist when her personal life suffered a major setback. She was happily married to lawyer John Paul Monahan, but he passed away in 1998 due to colon cancer. Katie was left with two young daughters.
The eldest of the two is Elinor or Ellie, who is a Yale University graduate and also works in television like her mom, but she mostly writes. The 29-year-old got engaged to her fiancé Mark in 2019, and he proposed with the same diamond engagement ring that Elinor’s late dad proposed to Katie with. How sweet is that?
