Gianna Maria-Onore Bryant – Was a Budding Basketball Player
“Like father, like daughter” the saying goes, and former basketball legend Kobe Bryant’s second daughter Gianna, was like him in so many aspects. Just like her famous father, “Gigi” as her dad called her, was the only child among his 4 daughters who took a shine to basketball. The doting dad even agreed to coach her AAU basketball team (proudly called The Mambas, after Kobe) and even though he never watched NBA games after he retired from the game, he started watching it with Gigi as she was interested in it. Sadly, the promising 13-year-old passed away with her dad when their helicopter crashed in Los Angeles on 26th January 2020, when both of them were on the way to Kobe’s Mamba Academy.
