Anika Poitier – Filmmaker
The famous Bahamian-American Oscar-winning actor Sydney Poitier has a big family who are all very close to each other, even though his six daughters are born from two different women. After his first marriage ended in divorce, the actor married Canadian actress Joanna Shimkus and they had two daughters together.
Their names are Anika and Sydney. Anika chose to also work in the movie industry like her famous dad, but behind the camera, as a filmmaker. In fact, her movie Black Irish won the Adrienne Shelley Filmmaking Grant in 2012.
