Marlon Brando: ~ $270,000, Tetiaroa, French Polynesia
When the Godfather actor, Marlon Brando was shooting for the movie Mutiny on the Bounty in Tahiti in 1960, he came across a beautiful island and decided to buy it for $270,000 so that he could occasionally escape Hollywood. His love for the island also stemmed from the fact that he fell in love with and later married his on-screen love interest in the movie, Tarita Teriipaia, who was a Tahitian herself. His vision for the island was building a modest eco-resort, which he did and it eventually came to be known as The Brando. Even after the actor’s passing, his legacy lives on in the island’s history. The resort has since grown in size being upgraded with the times. Just for your information, a 3-night minimum stay at one of the many 3-bedroomed villas on this island will set you back by $37,279. And that’s the per person cost, mind you.
