Anne Frank – Died February or March 1945
Anne Frank’s story and subsequent death at the hands of the Nazis was a sadly common one in World War II. What made her stand out from among the faceless millions that died at that time was her detailed diary. Her memoir, named The Diary of a Young Girl has since become one of the definitive chronicles of the Holocaust. This last photo of her and her sister Margot was taken in 1942, likely before they went into hiding. She died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp along with countless others, likely from a typhus epidemic.
