Italian-born French fashion designer Pierre Cardin is notable for his avante garde designs. His work started in clothes, but he eventually ventured into cosmetics and perfumes, before licensing the brand for almost every product imaginable. Cardin has a reported net worth of $800 million and he sought to double that in 2011, when he tried to sell his brand for about $1 billion, but the sale never took place as the company was estimated to be worth a lot less.
