OLD STARS YOU THOUGHT ARE LONG GONE
BUT THEY ARE NOT EVEN PLANNING THEIR RETIREMENT
Iris Apfel, Born in 1921
Iris Apfel is an interior designer and businesswoman who became a fashion icon because of her one of a kind style. Apfel, together with her husband, Carl Apfel, founded the Old World Weavers in the 1950s, which is a company that manufactures fabric. The couple, backed by their fabric company, had the White House as a loyal client, having worked with a total of 9 presidential administrations. Now 97, Apfel became the oldest person to have her likeness made into a Barbie doll. Mattel, the company who manufactures Barbie Dolls, said that they made their Apfel Barbie to commemorate the release of the style icon’s new book, Iris Apfel: Accidental Icon.
