Branson found the said island uninhabited in 1978, and bought it for the amount of  $180,000.  With two private beaches, the businessman had the island developed for personal use and to be rented out for guests.  Some of the famous people who has stayed in Branson’s island include Nelson Mandela, Princess Diana, and former US president, Barack Obama.  The main house, called The Great House, was unfortunately burned down after being struck by lightning, and it was replaced by a new structure with a Balinese theme.  The master bedroom is said to be 1,500-square-foot big and has an outdoor bath and jacuzzi.
