Dubbed as the ‘White House of Canada’, 24 Sussex Drive has been home to many Prime Ministers of Canada. Considering that the PM of Canada, Justin Treadeax, is the son of former Canadian PM Pierre Trudeau, he spent a considerable part of his boyhood in this 34-roomed mansion. But ever since Justin became the PM in 2015, he has been living in Rideau Cottage, some miles away, instead. This is because the 24 Sussex mansion has been known to house mould, has asbestos, a rat infestation issue and a leaky roof! By official estimates, the renovation of this property, which was originally built in 1868, would cost the Canadian taxpayers $10 million! So it was just easier for the PM to move and do away with the wasteful expenditure. However, there are plans of a massive renovation this year.
