The Magic of Cinema: Take a Look at these Photos of Famous Celebrities and the Real-Life People They Portrayed on Screen
Charlize Theron and Aileen Wuornos
There is a famous belief in Hollywood that if you allow filmmakers to change your appearance (the more extreme, the best), you can possibly win the most coveted Oscar award. Take for example Nicole Kidman in The Hours and Marion Cotillard in La Vie en Rose. Perhaps Charlize Theron knew an Oscar was coming her way when she accepted the role of the real-life serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the movie Monster. Instead of losing weight for a role, which women in Hollywood are expected to do all the time, Theron gained weight and wore prosthetic to alter her appearance. She won the 2003 Academy Award for Best Actress for this role.
