Mercy James – A hospital in her name
Madonna had already successfully undergone adoption before, so it was a surprise when the Malawi High Court refused her petition to adopt Mercy James in 2009. Thankfully, she did not give up on her daughter, but rather, donated a sizeable chunk of her bank account to fund a pediatric hospital in the country, which has since been named after Mercy James. It’s probably not the ideal wealth management move, but one that worked for Madge and her daughter.
