Ricky Schroder made his film debut in The Champ, which impressively won him a Golden Globe in 1980. Since then, he had a number of notable projects, including starring in the TV show Silver Spoons. His boyish looks became a disadvantage as he got older, however, and he struggled with his identity as an actor for years. Thankfully, his role in NYPD Blue cemented his capability as a mature actor.
