Dan Blocker – PULMONARY EMBOLISM
Beloved actor Dan Blocker may have appeared in several Western themed television shows, but he will always be remembered as Hoss Cartwright in the TV series Bonanza. Some people do not know that prior to acting, Blocker served in the United States Army, and that he fought in the Korean War. Blocker is a highly decorated war veteran. Sadly, Blocker passed away during a gall bladder surgery due to a pulmonary embolism. He was only 43 when he died, while he was still starring in Bonanza. His untimely death forced writers to adjust the show’s storyline, indicating death as the cause of character Hoss Cartwright’s absence.
