Candy Darling – Died March 21, 1974
Candy Darling was a true 70’s icon. She was a muse of Andy Warhol, starring in his movies, Flesh and Women in Revolt, as well as a muse of The Velvet Underground. She is also one of the earliest transgender icons. She was only 29 years old when she died of lymphoma after her cancer treatment failed. True to form, she posed for one final, fabulous photograph on her deathbed accompanied by a note declaring that she was bored with everything. An amazing character to the very end, indeed.
