Mysterious Facts and Discoveries of Ancient Rome
Ancient Roman Coin in an Old Japanese Castle
Archaeologists are always happy whenever they find interesting items during their exploratory digs. Rarely does it happen that their discovery makes them scratch their heads, wondering how an item has reached a location, where it really doesn’t belong. Like the ancient roman coins that were found in an old, isolated Japanese castle. Archaeologists carrying out a dig at the medieval castle of Katsuren in Okinawa, Japan, found ten copper coins that they discovered to be from ancient Rome, specifically from the period between 3rd or 4th century AD. It is a known fact that Japan was an isolated island country, refusing to trade with other countries ever since the Portuguese tried to colonize them in the past. How the coins got there will remain a mystery until the experts can establish a link between the ancient Romans and Japan.
