As a child actor, Smollett appeared in the famous films The Mighty Ducks and North that starred a young Elijah Wood, too. Smollett’s $500,000 net worth has been accumulated from his salary from Empire and appearances in other TV shows like The Skinny, The Mindy Project, and Revenge. In 2019, Smollett reported a hate crime attack that happened to him, however, after a thorough police investigation, it was discovered that it was the actor who staged the attack, leading to a class 4 felony charge against him for filing a false police report. The Chicago Police Department suspects that Smollett staged the attack to help his waning career, since he was not satisfied with the salary he received from Empire.
