Self-made billionaire Elon Musk may have stepped down as Tesla’s chairman, but it doesn’t mean he’s losing his status as billionaire anytime soon. As it is, his current net worth is reported to be at $22.1 billion, and he is currently 25th richest person on the planet. He earned his first million when he sold Zip2, the software company he and his brother built. After the sale, Musk founded the online banking company, X.com, which later merged with competition Confinity and became PayPal Inc. When PayPal was later sold to eBay, it made Musk richer, then he used his accumulated fortune to build up Tesla Motors. Since he has always been interested in space, besides cars, Musk also established his rocket-making company, SpaceX.
