One of the most famous, most recognizable and most stolen pieces of art is Italian painter, Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, the Mona Lisa. It is said to be an oil painting of Lisa Gherardini, as commissioned by her husband, during the Italian Renaissance era. For years, her identity was hidden and people did not know if she really existed. However, who would have thought that centuries later, she would be spotted in the subway, giving us the same sheepish smile!
