Fred Rogers – Was Married to Joanne Byrd (~ 50 years)
With the new HBO documentary on the legendary puppeteer, musician and TV personality Fred Rogers, intimate details about his life and family were revealed to us. An entire American generation grew up watching his show, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and mourned along wiht his family when he passed away in 2003 due to stomach cancer. His wife of 50 years, Joanne, attended the same college he went to Rollins College, and put her Master’s degree in Music to use as she performed in public with her classmates. The couple had two sons together and built a comfortable life for themselves, away from the limelight.
