Mary Hopkin, Born in 1950

Welsh singer Mary Hopkin became a global sensation in 1968 with her timeless hit Those Were the Days, which topped charts worldwide and established her as a major talent. Discovered by Paul McCartney, she was one of the first artists signed to the Beatles’ Apple Records, securing her place in music history.

In addition to her chart success, Hopkin represented the UK at Eurovision in 1970 with Knock Knock Who’s There, finishing second. Her emotive vocals and graceful performances have left a lasting mark on folk and pop music.
