Whenever Carter looks back in her childhood, she thankfully recalls how her parents had been supportive of her career even at a young age. Before becoming a beauty queen and an actress, Carter was first and foremost a singer. Her parents saw her potential and they allowed her to join the band The Relatives at the young age of 14, and she even performed at nightclubs with them. Aside from having a beautiful voice, Carter also played the marimba and the guitar. When asked during a TV special, why she allowed her daughter to sing at night clubs when she was very young, Carter’s mother said she trusted her and that she had her head firmly on her shoulders.
