OLD STARS YOU THOUGHT ARE LONG GONE
BUT THEY ARE NOT EVEN PLANNING THEIR RETIREMENT

Chuck Woolery, Born in 1941

Chuck Woolery’s name may be synonymous with game shows, but his career began as a singer. The host used to play the bass fiddle and sing with the The Bordermen. He eventually started his solo musical career, but with no luck at all, so Woolery turned to acting. Just like singing, however, Woolery did not ‘hit the jackpot’ in the acting industry, too. Nonetheless, it was his singing at the show, Your Hit Parade, that brought him his break in game show hosting, because someone who saw him, suggested that he host the long-running game show, Wheel of Fortune. Woolery hosted the show for six years, but a salary dispute led to his exit and Pat Sajak replaced him as host. Other game shows that Woolery hosted are Love Connection, Scrabble, Greed, and Lingo. Now 77, Woolery is sill a regular on radio shows and podcasts where he voices out his strong political views.
