OLD STARS YOU THOUGHT ARE LONG GONE
BUT THEY ARE NOT EVEN PLANNING THEIR RETIREMENT
Sandie Shaw, Born in 1947
In 60s Britain, among the most popular and successful English singers of that decade, you were sure to find mention of Sandie Shaw. By the end of the 60s, when Sandie’s fame seemed to be dipping, she participated in the 1967 Eurovision Song Contest.
Now only was Sandie the first Brit to win the contest, but her version of the song ‘Puppet on a String’ became a massive hit. Her next chart topper would only come 15 years later, and in 2013, Sandie announced that she would be leaving the music industry for good.
