The Magic of Cinema: Take a Look at these Photos of Famous Celebrities and the Real-Life People They Portrayed on Screen

Eddie Redmayne and Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking never allowed his disease to come in the way of his successful career as a theoretical physicist and cosmologist.  He was at the peak of it when he was diagnosed with early onset slow-progressing form of motor neuron disease or MND, known as well as ALS and Lou Gehrig’s disease.  It was actor Eddie Redmayne who was tasked with portraying his role in his own biopic, The Theory of Everything.  The role required the actor to wear glasses, as well as sit on a wheelchair, to look closely like Hawking.  Redmayne’s incredible portrayal of the bestselling author and scientist earned him an Oscar in the Best Actor category.
