Celebrities Who You Didn’t Know Served In The Military

Johnny Carson

Before Jay Leno, David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon, there was the great Johnny Carson who hosted The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson for thirty years. Carson’s career began in radio, not on television first.  But before he began his radio carer, the comedian and TV host served in the Navy in 1943, during World War II.  Carson started first as an apprentice shipman, then he got promoted to midshipman while being assigned to the USS Pennsylvania.  Even then Carson showed promise as a showman, providing entertainment to his fellow uniformed brothers by doing magic tricks and comedy.  Later on, he became a communications officer, hence the reason why he pursued a career in radio after serving the Navy.
