Celebrities Who You Didn’t Know Served In The Military
Montell Williams
Television personality and actor Montel Williams may not be very visible on TV these days, but he was once very familiar to TV viewers because of the long-running daytime talk show The Montel Williams Show. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Williams lied low for a while and instead, concentrated on being active in a nonprofit MS Foundation. Before joining Hollywood, Williams enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corps in 1974. He did not attend a regular college to get a University Degree, instead he graduated from U.S. Naval Academy. After graduation, Williams became a Navy midshipman, and later, a cryptologic officer for naval intelligence in Guam. It was while serving in the National Security Agency in Maryland that Williams began counseling families of servicemen, which gave way to the idea of a TV talk show.
