Celebrities Who You Didn’t Know Served In The Military
Tony Bennett
Tony Bennett is a multi-awarded singer whose career has spanned six decades. People who know him as the singer who sang I Left My Heart in San Francisco, may not know these two things about him; first that he is a painter who uses the name Anthony Benedetto to sign his work and the second one is that he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and fought in World War II. After receiving basic training, Bennett was deployed to Germany and France while assigned to the Infantry 63rd Division. He did not just fight in the war, he was also put in the front line! Later on Bennett was assigned to a unit in charge of disinterring mass graves. Once the war ended, the singer went back to the U.S. to finally pursue a music career.
