A Piece Of Forgotten History: You Won’t Believe These Rare Photos Found Inside an Old Camera!
The First Existing Photo of a US President
Technically the first photo taken of a US president was the one with William Henry Harrison in 1841, but it got lost and has never been found. This one was taken by Philip Haas using a daguerreotype in 1843, and it features John Quincy Adams. Even though he was no longer president when this was shot, it still counts. Adams is a great supporter of the advancement of science, and helped the creation of the Smithsonian Institution through the money left by British scientist, James Smithson upon his death – Adams saw this as insurance in the improvement of science and knowledge.
