Nikola Tesla – Died January 7, 1943
Much of life as we know it today can be attributed to Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest minds of the 20th century. After all, he all but invented electricity. Despite his great intellect and groundbreaking inventions, however, he was all but depleted in net worth by the end of his life. In fact, he was penniless, living in the New Yorker Hotel, surviving on a sparse vegetarian diet. He was found dead by a hotel maid. It was later established that he died of coronary thrombosis.
