Mysterious Facts and Discoveries of Ancient Rome
Dislike for Philosophy
What an absurd idea, right? Why would the ancient Romans, who gave us great philosophers like Seneca and Marcus Aurelius, dislike philosophy at all? There are basically two main reasons why Romans hated philosophy; first, philosophy is of Greek origin, so Romans felt like, “why be interested in a study originating from a conquered race?” The second reason is that philosophy makes things complicated by concentrating on studying the ‘inner man’, not so great for soldiers who are sacrificing their everything for service to their country.
