Mysterious Facts and Discoveries of Ancient Rome

Uncovering Pompeii

One fateful morning during the summer in A.D. 790 people of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii had the surprise of their lives when Mount Vesuvius erupted, covering all of the city and  its people, with pyroclastic materials. However something good came out of this disaster, as it preserved all that it buried – art works, artefacts, buildings, and even bodies of people – giving us a view of the Roman life as it was during ancient times. The city was first discovered in the mid 18th century, but hundreds of years after, archaeologists are still digging to unearth the entire city.
