Well, they did; in fact, it was a beloved TV show that aired on CBS for 4 seasons. Actor Robert Conrad played Smith’s character in the show, Secret Service agent James West, who was considered at the time as ‘James Bond on horseback’. Rather than the traditional genre of Western, the show was considered as a science fiction Western because of its fantasy and advance technology elements. The 84-year-old Conrad sure does look like a James Bond-kinda actor, which makes us wonder if he was ever considered for that iconic role.
