Actor, producer, and director Kevin Costner’s acting career has been really successful, and he’s remained to be one of the most recognizable Hollywood actors in the world. He has tackled many roles in films, but the one that can be considered iconic is that of Union Army lieutenant John J. Dunbar in Dances with Wolves. Experts have deemed the movie, the most successful Western film of all time, giving Costner two Oscar Awards for Best Picture and Best Director. Unlike in most Western films where Native Americans have been degraded, Dances with Wolves depicted the tribes in a very different light. Because of what direction he chose to take the film, Costner was welcomed as a member of the Sioux Nation.
