From Child Star to Celebrated Filmmaker: The Incredible and Extraordinary Life of Ron Howard

Animated Howard

What’s a man who can’t laugh at himself? Although there are plenty of people in Hollywood who take themselves very seriously, Ron certainly isn’t among them. Way back in 1998, he played a parody version of himself as a movie director on the animated show not meant for kids, The Simpsons. In his first appearance on the show, his character and Homer are seen trying to pitch a screenplay involving a deadly robot driving instructor, and there’s some time traveling involved. Howard would go on to make several appearances on the show, which was an honor for him, specially because it made his kids think that he was cool.
