Before the Last Curtain Call- See The Last On-Screen Performances from Hollywood Greats Before they Died
Rita Hayworth – Wrath of God
One word that can best describe 1940s iconic actress Rita Hayworth is ‘glamorous’. She is the epitome of the perfect Hollywood leading actress, with glorious hair color that matched her beautiful face. She would not have been called ‘The Love Goddess’ if not for those qualities, and add to that her extraordinary talents in acting, dancing, and singing. Although she’s appeared in many memorable movies, she’s best remembered for playing the title role in the 1946 film noir, Gilda. Sadly, Hayworth’s career spiraled down because of an alcohol problem, or so that’s what people assumed. The actress did abuse alcohol, but the reason why she would usually fly into a fit of rage was due to undiagnosed Alzheimer’s disease, that she was suffering from for an unknown number of years. Complications from the disease claimed Hayworth’s life in 1987 at only 68, with the film The Wrath of God being her last screen appearance.
