Portraying Conflicted Characters
Many people took notice of how Hudson played conflicted characters in many of his films. It was speculated that Douglas Sirk, who directed a few of the actor’s films, knew of his true self so he pushed the actor to portray roles which suffered from an identity crisis. Some of Hudson’s films that Sirk directed were Magnificent Obsession, Written in the Wind, and All That Heaven Allows. Although he never got any award nominations for these films, Hudson did portray his roles very well.
