Every Elvis Presley Fan Should Know These Amazing Facts about The Music Legend
Did Elvis rip-off ‘Hound Dog’?
The king produced many hits songs like Suspicious Minds, Love Me Tender, Heartbreak Hotel, Jailhouse Rock, and Can’t Help Falling in Love. However, many critics claimed that one of his greatest hits, Hound Dog, has actually been ripped-off and even stolen by Elvis. They said that the original version of the song was recorded by Willie Mae ‘Big Mama’ Thornton, a 25-year-old African-American rhythm and blues singer. The story goes that Elvis laughed hysterically when he first heard the song performed by others on stage, but when he was made perform it, it became a big hit during the rock ‘n roll age. It may not have been Elvis’ original song, but the changed lyrics and his performance made Hound Dog one of the best-selling singles of all time.
