Rock Hudson: The Complicated Life of a Legendary Hollywood Heartthrob
AIDS Diagnosis
It was during the early 1980s when an unknown sickness afflicted mostly gay men in the United States. It would later be known as AIDS in 1982, as labelled by the CDC. It was just a few years after that, on June 5, 1984, that Hudson was diagnosed with the disease after he had a strange lesion on his body checked by his doctors. The actor would go on to hide his disease from the public at first, only confirming the following year that he did indeed have the disease. In all fairness, he did inform his ex-lovers via letters carried by his friend, George Nader, about his condition.
