Despite his health failing, Hudson kept his promise to his dear friend Doris Day, and appeared in her show called Doris Day’s Best Friends. The actress remembered that day saying that she almost did not recognize Hudson because of his gaunt appearance. There was a media frenzy and nonstop coverage on news channels about Hudson looking frail and gaunt. But close friend Day brushed aside his appearance and hugged the actor. During his appearance, the actress remembered Hudson would easily get tired so she brought him food platters and tried to feed him, but he refused saying he could not eat.
